About this tool

A complete PDF editor that runs entirely in your browser. Your document is opened, edited and saved on your own device with the open-source pdf.js (Mozilla) and pdf-lib libraries, so contracts, invoices and forms never pass through anyone's server. There is no page limit, no hourly limit and no watermark.

What you can do

  • Edit existing text: choose Edit text and click any line. The tool covers the original line with its background colour and retypes your version in the closest standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier), matching size, colour, bold and italic.
  • Find and replace words across every page, for example a date, price or name.
  • Add text in three font families with bold and italic, any size and colour, on several lines.
  • Mark up with highlight, underline and strikethrough that snap to the lines of text, or white-out to cover mistakes.
  • Shapes and drawing: boxes, ellipses, lines and arrows with fill and opacity, plus freehand drawing.
  • Insert images, a drawn or typed signature, stamps such as Approved or Paid with the date, clickable links and comment notes that open in any PDF reader.
  • Fill forms: fillable fields (text boxes, checkboxes, lists and radio buttons) appear ready to type in, with the option to flatten them.
  • Organise pages: reorder, delete or insert blank pages from the page panel.

Good to know about editing existing text

PDFs place text letter by letter and often use fonts that are embedded only partly, so the replacement uses the nearest of the 14 standard PDF fonts. For most documents the change is hard to spot; with distinctive brand fonts it may look slightly different. The original text stays in the file underneath the cover, which means it can still be found by search. Do not use editing or white-out to remove confidential information; convert the pages to images with PDF to JPG and back with JPG to PDF instead.

Good to know

  • Edited text uses the nearest standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier) and Latin characters; Arabic and other non-Latin scripts cannot be typed yet.
  • Only text running left to right across the page can be edited; scanned pages have no text to edit (add new text on top instead).
  • Covered or edited text remains in the file underneath: not suitable for redacting secrets.
  • Saving a document after reordering, deleting or inserting pages flattens its form fields.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?

Yes. Choose Edit text and click a line: retype it and the original is covered and replaced in a matching standard font, size and colour. Use Find to replace a word everywhere at once.

Is this PDF editor really free, with no limits?

Yes. No watermark, no sign-up, no page limit and no limit on how many PDFs you edit per hour.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Many online editors upload your file; this one opens, edits and saves it inside your browser, so it never leaves your device.

Can I fill in and sign a PDF form?

Yes. Fillable fields appear ready to type in, and the Sign tool lets you draw or type a signature and place it anywhere.

Will my links and notes work in Adobe Acrobat?

Yes. Links and comment notes are saved as standard PDF annotations that Acrobat, Preview and browsers understand.
