About this tool

Click anywhere on the image to read that pixel's colour in HEX, RGB and HSL. The palette is found with median-cut quantisation, which repeatedly splits the image's colours into groups and averages each group. It is the same family of techniques used by design tools to suggest themes. Swatches are ordered by how much of the image they cover; click one to copy its HEX code.

Good to know

  • Colours are read after your browser converts the image to sRGB.
  • JPEG compression can shift colours slightly; sample a flat area.
