About this tool

Tiles are numbered in the order to post them. For a profile grid, Instagram shows your newest post first (top-left), so post the highest number first and tile 1 last. For a carousel (one row), upload the tiles in order 1, 2, 3 in a single post so people can swipe across the panorama.

Instagram crops grid thumbnails to a 3:4 portrait shape on profiles, so for a perfect 3 × 3 profile grid use an image with a 1:1.33 (width to height) ratio, such as 3240 × 4320 pixels. For carousels, each tile should be 1080 × 1350 (4:5) or 1080 × 1080 (square).

Good to know

  • Up to 10 × 10 tiles.
  • Tiles are cut evenly; any leftover pixels go to the last row and column.

Frequently asked questions

In what order do I post a 3 × 3 grid?
