About this tool

Stacked discounts multiply rather than add: 25% off and then an extra 10% off is a total discount of 32.5%, not 35%, because the second discount applies to the already reduced price. Tax is calculated on the discounted price, as shops normally do.

Good to know

  • Assumes percentage discounts; fixed-amount coupons are not included.
  • Prices are rounded to two decimals.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate 30% off a price?

Multiply the price by 0.70. For example, 30% off 150 is 105, saving 45.

Is 20% off plus an extra 10% off the same as 30% off?

No. It is 28% off in total, because the extra 10% applies to the already reduced price.

Should tax be added before or after the discount?

Normally after: the tax is charged on the discounted price, as this calculator does.
