Key takeaways
- Put the photos in the right order before converting; each photo becomes one page.
- Choose A4 or Letter with "fit" for documents, or "image size" pages for photo albums.
- Phone photos make large PDFs; compress the PDF or resize the photos first for email and online forms.
- Crop and rotate photos of paper documents before converting, so pages read straight.

Convert in four steps
- Open JPG to PDF and add your photos (JPG, PNG or WebP).
- Drag them into order. Each image becomes one page.
- Pick a page size (A4, Letter or the size of each image), orientation and margin.
- Create and download the PDF. The pictures are combined in your browser and never uploaded.
Which page settings to choose
| Purpose | Page size | Margin |
|---|---|---|
| Photographed documents, receipts, forms | A4 (or Letter in the US and Canada), fit to page | Small |
| Photo album or portfolio | Same as image | None |
| Printing on a home printer | A4 or Letter | Small or large, so nothing is cut off |
Photographing paper documents well
- Lay the page on a dark, flat surface in even daylight, and hold the phone directly above it.
- Turn off the flash, which causes glare on glossy paper.
- Crop away the table around the page with Crop image and fix sideways shots with Rotate image before converting.
Keeping the PDF small
A modern phone photo is often 2 to 5 MB, so a ten-page PDF of photos can pass 30 MB, more than most email services accept. Two fixes:
- Before converting: resize the photos to about 1600 pixels on the long side. Text remains readable and the size drops sharply.
- After converting: run the PDF through Compress PDF.
Adding photos to an existing PDF
Convert the photos to a PDF first, then use Merge PDF to join it with the existing file in the order you want. To move or delete single pages afterwards, use Organize PDF.
On a phone without any app
Open the tool in Safari or Chrome on your phone, choose Photo library when asked for files, select the pictures and continue as above. iPhones and many Android phones can also "print" a photo to PDF from the share sheet, but the browser tool gives you control over order, page size and margins.
