About this tool
Everyone aged 18 or over who lives in the UK can save up to £20,000 a tax year across all their ISAs, with no tax on interest, dividends or gains.
From 6 April 2027, the government plans to limit how much of that can go into cash ISAs to £12,000 for people under 65. The other £8,000 can still go into stocks and shares or innovative finance ISAs. People aged 65 or over keep the full £20,000 cash limit. For the 2026 to 2027 tax year, the whole £20,000 can still go into cash.
A Lifetime ISA takes up to £4,000 of the £20,000, and the government adds a 25% bonus. A Junior ISA for a child has its own £9,000 limit and does not use yours.
Good to know
- Transfers of previous years’ ISA savings do not use the allowance and should not be entered.
- Rules for moving money between cash and stocks and shares ISAs after April 2027 are still being finalised and are not modelled.
- Checked on GOV.UK on 5 November 2026. Not financial advice.
