About this tool
Each country sets an exact photo size and how big your head must be in it, measured from the chin to the top of the head:
- United States: 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm), head 1 to 1 3/8 inches (25 to 35 mm).
- United Kingdom: 35 × 45 mm, head 29 to 34 mm, plain cream or light grey background. Online applications need a digital photo of at least 600 × 750 pixels.
- Canada: 50 × 70 mm, head 31 to 36 mm.
- Schengen visas, most EU passports and Australia: 35 × 45 mm, head about 32 to 36 mm.
The tool cuts your photo to the size you choose at 300 dpi and lays out as many copies as fit on a standard 6 × 4 inch (10 × 15 cm) photo print, with thin cutting lines. It does not change your face, skin or background: official rules forbid edited photos, so take the picture against a plain wall in even light.
